Today was our second fishout of the year and it was at Edith Lake. John Bowers was our Cookmaster at lunch time and the Cookmaster's helper was Neil the BBQ King Whitmore. Gene Ebata had his stove as backup. We had thirteen Members attend which is a great turnout on such a windy day. Hot dogs at lunch time and then a discussion on what we used before lunch and what we caught.
Before lunch I caught one on a straggle Vampire Leach, which we kept. Carey did an autopsy on it at home and it was crammed full of daphnia. I lost one on a ruby eyed leach and had some takes on my Prince Nymph. I was using my type one sinking fly line with a quick retrieve.
Water was 42 degrees and still murky. Didn’t see any insects hatching.
Well we tucked in out of the wind. After many long distance releases I finally got 2 to the boat. Used a micro black leach with a metallic red head turner bead tied on a #14 60 degree hook.
Water was 42 degrees and the wind blowing across it was like fishing in a giant fridge. When the wind stopped it was beautiful and warm.
