The Kamloops Fly Fishers Association (KFFA) was started in 1972 by Tony Ruck and Wade Chernencoff. Dinner meetings were held at the Village Hotel the third Wednesday of each month. The first Executive was President: Wade Chernencoff, Vice-President Barry Beaton, Treasurer Wayne Yoshida, and Secretary Tony Ruck.
We were registered as a Society in December 1974.
In 1975 dues were increased to $15.00 and the reason given was “inflation spiral”. It looks like the food wasn’t very good at the Village Hotel so we moved to the Highlander Restaurant. The Constitution was ratified in 1975.
Our Dues for 2025 are $60.00 for single and $75.00 for family Members Junior $20.00 annually (under 19 years of age). Our Executive for 2025 is; Executive: President - Len Piggin - away, Treasurer-Carey Miggins,
Vice-President-John Bowers, Secretary Position – Vacant.
Directors: Wayne Deptuck, Gil Schiller, Gerry Bowers, Doug Scorrar, Dave Ouellette, Dave Luck & Neil Whitmore.
Our dinner meetings are held at the Shanghai Mandarin Restaurant on Tuesday evenings 14-1315 Summit Drive
And our Fly Tying 101/Method Sessions are held at The Fly Shop at Dominic’s 461A Dene Drive.
Our club has always been about Members helping Members. The picture below was taken with the Fly of the Month Award renamed “Hermann Fisher Fly of the Month” award. The late Hermann Fischer exemplified this. He is missed. We have monthly dinner meetings, Fly Tying 101/Method Sessions as well as Fishouts. As you can see by the photographs we paddle board, kayak, jet boat and use 12 ft. and larger boats to fish from.
